Makemba Kunle is the Artist-in-Residence and Creative Director of Studio 66 Art Support Community in Barataria, Trinidad. Honoured with a 2014 retrospective at the National Museum and Art Gallery of Trinidad and Tobago, his work—rooted in Carnival, ancestral memory, and social commentary—blends symbolism, rhythm, and bold decoration. Emerging in the 1970s as one of the Caribbean’s most progressive visual artists, Kunle’s art remains spiritual, thought-provoking, and deeply connected to cultural identity.
Artworks are available for viewing and purchase at the gallery.
