Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Beverly Valdez’s work is strongly influenced by her Caribbean heritage which has had a profound impact on her life and art. “The cultural celebrations, music, colors, shapes, patterns, textures and rhythms of Trinidad and Tobago have shaped my artistic identity.” An alumna of Bishop Anstey High School, Beverly moved to the United States to study art at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, graduating summa cum laude and a Master of Fine Arts degree.
