Codallo was born in Arima, Trinidad, and from an early age became very much involved in the folklore of Trinidad; as an adult he researched the topic in depth. His talents in illustration, photography, photo engraving and lithographic art led to a career in publishing and advertising. He’s remembered for his renderings of folk dances and festivals, and his series of pen and ink drawings of all the folklore characters, commissioned by a flour packaging company was subsequently donated to the National Museum.
