Horizons Art Gallery is pleased to present Karen Hale-Jackson and Kristy Franco in a joint exhibition full of colour and energy.
As a child, Karen spent every spare moment drawing, painting, making paper dolls and designing clothing for them. She has always exhibited a natural affinity for art. A self taught artist, Karen exhibited her first works at the Women in Art Exhibition in 2000. She has since continued on strongly, becoming well known for her bright fauna and flora and her local scenery that is ever present in this joint show.
This year Karen produced a wide range of acrylic paintings of varying subject matter. With scenes such as lush, green forests, colourful dancers, serene beaches and bright lilies on the water’s surface, Karen has expertly captured the beauty she sees in her environment.
Kristy Franco was born in Diego Martin, Trinidad in 1979. She received formal Art training at Sheridan College, Oakville, Canada in fundamentals and then in Interpretive Illustration, graduating in 2002. She worked as a Graphic Designer for Docucentre Ltd. for three years, after which she freelanced in both design and Illustration, while exploring painting in greater depth.
Kristy is better known for painting Portraits that are privately commissioned; however, she also paints flowers, seascapes and more recently, landscapes and houses/ buildings. And, as with the variety of subjects, Kristy explores many artist mediums of oil, acrylic, watercolour/ gouache and pastels.
These two artists have put together a vibrant, warm body of work in this exciting joint exhibition. The opening of Karen and Kristy’s exhibition will take place on Tuesday, 26th May, 2015 from 7:00pm until 8:30pm at Horizons Art Gallery located at 37, Mucurapo Road, St. James. The exhibition will continue until June 6th during 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays at the gallery.
